Here you can learn <strong>more about the store<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>upcoming sales<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>special events<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>meet our staff<\/strong>, shop for comics, toys and gifts or simply take\u00a0<strong>a virtual wander through our store<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Read the store&#8217;s profile and an interview with Joe at\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sequentialtart.com\/archive\/july01\/retailer_0701.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sequential Tart<\/a>.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">About the store<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In November 2013,\u00a0<strong>Atlantis Fantasyworld<\/strong>\u00a0celebrated its 39th Anniversary.\u00a0 During that time, Atlantis has had three locations.\u00a0 The first, a 2000 square foot wooden building, circa 1930, originally housed a family grocery store.\u00a0 The comic book store scenes that appear in the popular cult movie \u201cThe Lost Boys\u201d were filmed in this location.\u00a0 Atlantis operated in this building for thirteen years until the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake damaged it beyond repair.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In Santa Cruz, more than forty downtown businesses were damaged in this devastating earthquake.\u00a0 Atlantis was forced to relocate into an 800 square foot section of a 6,000 square foot tent.\u00a0 This pavilion\/tent and seven similar structures were built by the city on the parking lots of what remained of downtown.\u00a0 What was to be a six-month temporary arrangement for Atlantis became a business saving solution lasting three years.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In 1992, Atlantis found its permanent home in the newly constructed retail space adjacent to the downtown parking garage.\u00a0 Originally occupying 1,000 square feet, Atlantis expanded in 1994 to its current size of 1,600 square feet of retail space.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The expansion, named the \u201cU.S.S. Atlantis\u201d, simulates the engineering deck of a Starship.\u00a0 A monitor screen, catwalk to a Jeffries Tube, simulated warp engine, and four red alert lights, add realism to the design. On the back wall is a full mural of the engineering station, and through airbrushed windows you can see the U.S.S. Enterprise in orbit around Planet Earth.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In 1996 four years after moving to what is hopefully our final location Atlantis was selected as the 1996 recipient of the &#8220;Will Eisner Spirit of Comics\u201d Retailers Award.789<br \/><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5de7deb elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"5de7deb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"367\" height=\"252\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantisfantasyworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/eisner.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-image-1212\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/atlantisfantasyworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/eisner.jpg 367w, https:\/\/atlantisfantasyworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/eisner-300x206.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"100vw\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-df3f960 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"df3f960\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"color: #000000;\">We like to think that Atlantis is not only a place to shop, but also a destination for entertainment and fun.<\/p><p style=\"color: #000000;\">The most important tool for successful customer service is a good staff.
