Maurice LaMarche’s visit to Atlantis, Oct. 22, 2011

On Saturday, October 22, 2011 Atlantis Fantasyworld hosted a very special apppearance by Maurice LaMarche, winner of the 2011 Emmy Award for Best Voiceover Performance for his work on Futurama. Maurice can be heard on many commercials and some of your favorite cartoons, but is best known as the voice of The Brain, from the 1990s cartoon Pinky and the Brain. Joe Ferrara interviewed Maurice LaMarche from 11am to Noon at the Santa Cruz Cinema 9. This free event was a rare opportunity not only to get to know LaMarche and his incredible talent, but also to peek behind the scenes and discover how some of our favorite cartoons are made! Videos of this interview are below. Following the interview, LaMarche signed autographs at Atlantis Fantasyworld the rest of the day.Maurice LaMarche’s appearance was a benefit for Levi Castro, a local Santa Cruz resident who was paralyzed in a surfing accident in 1999. LaMarche took donations for his signature, and for voice-recordings, to raise funds help Levi Castro purchase a much-needed new standing frame. We are happy to report that through the combined efforts of Maurice LaMarche, and everyone who donated, Levi Castro will be able to purchase his new standing frame!

Happy Birthday Noel Niell (Lois Lane)!

November 25, 2010 was actress Noel Neill’s 90th birthday! Noel’s career has spanned 70 years, but she is best remembered for playing Lois Lane in the 1950’s TV series The Adventures of Superman. Her portrayal of the intrepid news reporter inspired millions of young women to seek professional careers. In 2006 Noel visited Atlantis in conjunction with her appearance as Gertrude in the movie Superman Returns. Prior to a special showing of the film, Atlantis owner, Joe Ferrara, had the priviledge of interviewing Noel before an exclusive audience of donors to the Christopher Reeve Foundation. We would now like to share that interview with you:
