ABOUT
JOE FERRARA
Atlantis
Fantasyworld has a 28-year history that starts with its owner,
Joe Ferrara.
A
full time musician and comics fan, Joe never planned to focus
his life on a comic book store. However, on August 15, 1976,
he moved from San Jose, California to Santa Cruz and discovered
the only place in town to buy comics was a small section in
the back of a record shop. Instead of driving to San Jose
twice a week to buy comics, Joe decided to open his own shop
with the 6,000 books in his collection. On November 27, 1976,
Atlantis Fantasyworld opened its doors for the first time.
Joe still plays music, entertaining twice a month at the Cats
restaurant in Los Gatos, California. He also sings the national
anthem annually for the San Francisco Giants and the Santa
Cruz Wharf to Wharf race.
The success of Atlantis Fantasyworld is due to Joes
love of comics, dedication to hard work, and genuine affection
for people.
